The Chinese authorities have published a master plan for the establishment of the Shanghai Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone (hereinafter referred to as the Zone) in Shanghai.

According to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, the 880 thousand square meter project adjacent to Shanghai International Airport "Pudong" will allow foreign guests arriving in the city through this airport for commercial purposes to stay on the territory of the Zone for 30 days without the need to check visas and other documents authorizing entry into China. In addition, the personal belongings and luggage of such persons will be directly sent to the Zone after being inspected at the airport under the expedited procedure.

Favorable measures to ensure the convenience of business meetings and negotiations are aimed at better meeting the needs of short-term international commercial activities.

According to the document, the Zone will be tentatively completed in 2025. It will start operating in closed mode in 2028 and will be fully completed by 2030.

According to the data, Shanghai is currently home to more than 75,000 companies with foreign capital, 956 regional headquarters of multinational corporations and 561 overseas research and development centers.
